M3-Series coaxial systems are purpose-engineered for real-world maritime duty and are designed to produce outstanding sound in open-air boat situations at a lower cost.

The M3-650X 6.5-inch coaxial speaker is built on a chassis that is a straight fit replacement for most 6.5-inch maritime speakers. The long excursion woofer design and superior power handling guarantee that your music plays loud and clear at high or low volume levels. M3-650X woofers are intended for infinite-baffle operation and do not need an enclosure behind them.

The high-frequency tasks are handled by a 0.75-inch silk dome tweeter that has been carefully prepared to resist the sea environment. Silk was selected for its low weight, great damping capabilities, and smooth responsiveness. A permanent grille-mounted design offers maximum tweeter performance while minimizing woofer radiating area loss. A 2nd order high-pass filter is built into the woofer grille on each tweeter, requiring no extra mounting requirement. The signal coming to the tweeter is checked and immediately removed in the case of an overload to reduce the risks of tweeter failure.

Six RGB LEDs are included into each speaker grille to generate brilliant accent lighting in practically any hue. Each multi-color LED is concealed and may be hooked directly to show up to seven color combinations or linked to an RGB lighting controller (available separately) for variable lighting control.

Although M3-650X Coaxial Systems may be utilized with as low as 20 W per channel, for the optimum audio performance, amplifiers capable of 60-120 W of continuous power per channel are suggested. To meet industry requirements, all JL Audio maritime speakers are saltwater-rated, with corrosion and UV resistant materials used throughout.
