The oil filter is the last line of defense between engine-damaging particles and the outboard's bearings, journals and cylinder walls, and it is replaced, never cleaned, at the interval the maker sets (Suzuki: at the initial 20 hours, then every 200 hours or 12 months). A genuine OEM filter is built to the filtration rating, bypass pressure and thread the engine family was designed for; an automotive filter that happens to screw on is not a substitute.
Boat Max Online stocks OEM oil filters for Honda BF, Suzuki DF and Yamaha F series outboards, organized by brand and model: Suzuki oil filters, Honda oil filters, Yamaha oil filters. Filter wrenches for the common sizes are stocked too.
