The throttle body controls how much air enters the engine, working together with the fuel injectors and engine control unit to maintain the correct air-fuel ratio across the entire RPM range. A throttle position sensor reports throttle angle to the ECU, and an idle air control (IAC) valve manages airflow at idle independent of throttle position, both critical inputs for smooth, stable engine operation.
