Bring your engine back to its original appearance with Dark Bluish Gray #1 factory-matched aerosol spray paint for Yamaha outboard motors. This is the ColorRite match for Yamaha paint code 008D (DBN1), the solid dark bluish gray used on many Yamaha outboards. Use it to repair scratches, chips, oxidation and faded surfaces while keeping the clean factory look of your engine.

The aerosol format makes it easy to apply smooth, even coats across larger areas such as the engine cowling, brackets and other painted components.

Surface Preparation

  1. Wash the area to be painted with soap and water. Rinse thoroughly.
  2. Clean the surface with a wax and grease remover and a clean lint-free cloth. Wipe in one direction only.
  3. Allow the surface to dry completely.
  4. Sand the repair area with 400–600 grit sandpaper until smooth and the gloss of the existing paint is removed.
  5. Remove sanding dust and clean the area again with wax and grease remover.
  6. If the repair exposes bare metal or plastic, apply primer before painting.

Aerosol Painting Instructions

1. Perform a Test Panel

Always spray a test panel first to check color accuracy, coverage and dry time. Compare it to your engine in direct sunlight before starting the repair.

2. Apply Color
  • Apply light, even coats.
  • Allow 5–10 minutes between coats.
  • Inspect coverage and add coats as needed.
  • Let the color dry 30–60 minutes before applying clearcoat.
3. Apply Clearcoat
  • Apply one even coat of clearcoat to the painted area.
  • Allow 5–10 minutes drying time.
  • Apply a second wet coat for full gloss and protection.
Important Application Tips
  1. Always spray a test panel before painting.
  2. Do not sand between color coats or before applying clearcoat.
  3. ColorRite paints are designed for plastic, metal and fiberglass surfaces. No flex additive is required.
  4. After about 5 days of curing, the surface can be wet sanded, polished, waxed and buffed.

Primer and clearcoat are sold separately.
