The Suzuki DF2.5 is the smallest outboard Suzuki makes and, at 29 lb for the short-shaft model, one of the lightest 4-strokes on the market. It is built for inflatable tenders, small dinghies, canoes and sailboat auxiliaries: a motor you carry in one hand, clamp on, and pull-start.

Under the cowl is a 68 cc single-cylinder 4-stroke with a built-in 1.0 L (0.26 gal) fuel tank, so there is no external tank or hose to rig. It runs on straight unleaded gasoline with no oil mixing. Suzuki specifies SAE 10W-40 engine oil, a 0.38 L (0.40 US qt) sump, an NGK CR6HSA spark plug and a 5,250–5,750 rpm full-throttle range. There is no oil filter, which keeps the annual service short and cheap.
