Power trim and tilt (PTT) lets the operator adjust engine angle on the fly for optimal performance at different speeds and loads, and tilt the engine fully up for shallow water, trailering, or storage. The system is hydraulic, relying on a motor-driven pump, cylinders, and a trim sensor that reports position, and a leak or electrical fault anywhere in that chain can leave the engine stuck at one angle.
