- Application Instructions
Follow these steps for best results.
1. Perform a Test Panel
Before beginning the repair, test the paint color on a small hidden area to confirm color match.
2. Mask the Repair Area
Use masking tape to cover surrounding areas to prevent overspray or accidental paint transfer.
Tip: When masking near the repair area, lightly fold the tape edge so paint blends smoothly without creating a sharp paint line.
3. Prepare the Surface
Clean the damaged area thoroughly using the included wax and grease remover to remove contaminants such as:
- grease
- wax
- fingerprints
- mold release agents
- dirt and debris
Allow the area to dry completely.
4. Sand the Repair Area
Use sandpaper to smooth the damaged surface.
Recommended grits:
- 600 or 1000 grit to remove gloss and prepare the surface
- 1500 or 2000 grit (wet sanding) to remove fine imperfections or “orange peel”
Ensure the area is smooth before proceeding.
5. Apply Primer
Apply the included primer according to product instructions.
After primer dries:
- Remove masking tape
- Inspect the surface for imperfections
- Lightly sand with 1000 or 1500 grit sandpaper if needed
6. Re-Mask the Area
If necessary, apply fresh masking tape around the repair zone before applying color.
7. Apply Color
- Apply the Pearl Nebular Black color coat using the touch-up pen.
- Apply light, even coats
- Allow proper drying between coats
- Do not sand between color coats
8. Apply Clearcoat
After the color coat has dried, apply the included clearcoat to restore gloss and protect the repair.
Do not sand between the color and clearcoat layers.
9. Final Finish
After 5 days of curing, the repaired area can be polished.
Use the included fine cut compound with a soft cloth using light circular motions to restore shine and blend the repair.
