Suzuki's maintenance schedule is printed in every owner's manual, but it is easy to misread: some items are hours or months, whichever comes first; a few have a separate replacement interval; and the first service is not where most people think it is. This is the schedule for the current 4-stroke range, explained in plain English by the Boat Max Online service team from Suzuki's manuals.
The rule that trips people up: 20 hours or 1 month
Break-in is 10 hours. The first service is at 20 hours or 1 month, whichever comes first, and it is the biggest one on the list. It is not at the 10-hour mark and it does not wait for the next 100-hour interval.

Every 200 hours or 12 months

- Water pump impeller — inspect
- Idle speed — inspect
- Valve lash — inspect (DF2.5 through DF30A; the DF40A and larger list a single valve-lash inspection later in the schedule, for example at 300 hours in the DF115A/140A manual, and it is a dealer item)
- Ignition timing — inspect (older models)
- Timing belt — inspect (belt models: DF8A/9.9A, DF9.9B/15A/20A, DF25A/30A)
Every 300 hours or 36 months

Longer intervals
- Low-pressure fuel filter: REPLACE every 400 hours or 2 years
- Timing belt (belt models): REPLACE every 4 years
- Low-pressure fuel pump filter (DF25A/30A, V6, DF300B/350A): replace every 1000 hours

- Balancer chain (DF150A/175A/200A, AP): replace every 1600 hours
- Boat-mounted water-separating filter element: every 12 months
After every outing in salt, brackish or muddy water
Flush the cooling system with fresh water: a few minutes on muffs, or about five minutes through the built-in flush port on models that have one. How to flush with muffs.
Anodes
Inspect at 20 hrs and every 100 hrs; replace when 2/3 corroded; never paint; clean with a wire brush. Internal powerhead anodes: dealer inspection every 100 hrs.
What this means in practice
- A typical recreational owner running 50–80 hours a year does the 100-hour list once a year, the 200-hour items at that same annual service (they are also on a 12-month clock), and the 300-hour kit every third year.
- Oil, filter and gear oil are the annual service; the impeller is a 36-month item regardless of hours because the rubber ages.
- Suzuki treats the 300-hour items as a kit: see the maintenance kit part number lookup.
- Capacities and part numbers for each family are in the oil capacity chart, spark plug chart, gear oil chart and thermostat lookup.
Everything on this schedule is stocked as genuine Suzuki parts: oil change kits, maintenance kits, fuel filters, anodes.
